Christian Alternative: Zoe Girl, Staci Orrico
Christian Aguilera hit the scene on the
Mickey Mouse Club and became an instant success. Her last album
sold millions of copies and was a very bubblegum pop style album with a
few questionable lyrics. He new style is that she is trying to
reinvent herself from bubble gum to more hip/hop. Christina does have
some great songs on here about telling girls to live their lives and not
to depend on some guy. She tells them in the song "Soar"
to not be afraid to be alone and not have a guy for now. The song
"I'm OK" is a very personal and revealing song about the abuse
that went on in her home. In the song "Fighter" she
talks about how bad relationships should make you stronger and to live
and push through it.
The problem is the the messages she sends between those good songs.
There are some VERY sexual songs and that send a positive message about
sex to teens. Her video for the song "Dirrty" is one of
the most provocative videos on MTV. It shows her dancing in very
sexual motions showing her thong from behind and up a very short skirt.
In November 14, 2002, Rolling Stone had an interview with her.
She refers to her video for "Dirrty" as, "It's all about
the stank. This is the stank video."
She comments on the song "Get Mine, Get Yours" and says,
"It is about casual sex...just what the title is. I'm in it to get
mine, and you get yours. We can do this and just have fun. I want
your body, not your heart kind of thing."
The article it self is "R" rated with TONS of language and she
is drinking through out the article. The cover itself is Christina
naked only covered up by a guitar and her hand. The article also
refers to her performing a concert in a strip club and makes note
of her having piercings in lets just say private place.
Stay away from this gal! This CD is "R" rated due to
extreme sexual content.
The first song shows her new
"attitude" that she now seems to be portraying to the world.
"Stripped Pt. 1"
Sorry you can't define me
Sorry I break the mold
Sorry that I speak my mind
Sorry don't do what I'm told
Sorry if I don't fake it
Sorry I come too real
I will never hide what I really feel
Huh, so here it is
No hype, no gloss, no pretense
Just me
Stripped
A song that makes some good points about how men can have sex and they
are cool but women do it and they are called a slut. The bad point
is she promotes having sex and not worrying about what others think.
"Can't Hold Us Down"
So what am I not supposed to have an opinion
Should I be quiet just because I'm a woman
Call me a b***h cos I speak what's on my mind
Guess it's easier for you to swallow if I sat and smiled
....
To all my girls with a man who be tryin to mack
Do it right back to him and let that be that
You need to let him know that his game is whack
And Lil' Kim and Christina Aguilera got your back
But you're just a little boy
Think you're so cute, so coy
You must talk so big
To make up for small lil' things
What Christina and other girls need to
realize is that even though you may have been in some bad relationships,
Jesus is our Father and can heal all that pain from our past!
"Make Over"
I can't believe what you did to me
Down on my knees and I need to break free
All these years, you violated me
...
I just wanna get away
Save it, all your bull****, for another day
I'm the only one who can rescue me from me
Do I really need to comment on this song.
She has crossed all line of what is decent when her market is teen
girls!
"Get Mine, Get Yours"
Can you put your hands my waistline
Want your skin up against mine
Move my hips to the baseline
Let me get mine, you get yours
Hang a please don't disturb sign
Put my back into a slow grind
Sending chills up and down my spine
Let me get mine, you get yours
Now listen
So, come on and freak my body
We can get nasty, naughty
All night a private party
Gotta hit that spot just right
Work me like a 9 to 5
It ain't about the kissin' and huggin'
Cause this is a physical lovin'
Straight sweatin', our bodies are rubbin'
Gotta hit that spot just right
Work me like a 9 to 5
Probably one of the most sexually provocative songs ever from a female
teen oriented pop artist. Her video looks like the beginning of a
porn.
"Dirrty"
DJ's spinning (show your hands)
Let's get dirrty (that's my jam)
I need that, uh, to get me off
Sweat until my clothes come off
....
Give all you got (give it to me)
Just hit the spot
Gonna get my girls
Get your boys
Gonna make some noise
Wanna get rowdy
Gonna get a little unruly
Get it fired up in a hurry
Wanna get dirrty
It's about time that I came to start the party
Sweat dripping over my body
Dancing getting just a little naughty
Wanna get dirrty
It's about time for my arrival
