Arriving on the scene in the year 2000, Beautiful Creatures was immediately signed to Warner Brothers Records. Determined to remind the world of what Rock & Roll is really all about, Beautiful Creatures released their self-titled debut album in 2001, featuring the songs “1 A.M.” and “Ride” which appear on the movie soundtrack Valentine and at full-length in the movie Rollerball. Also making television show appearances were songs “1 A.M.” on Smallville and “Wasted” on The Man Show. The debut Beautiful Creatures album was widely accepted as a commanding voice of how real Rock & Roll should be played.

Music
Listening to Beautiful Creatures was like listening to a throwback album before grunge had hit the streets and classic hard rock and metal were still pure. I mean take a listen to the very first track, "Anyone", and note the guitar riffs and the hard drive in the bass line gave me a feel of the days of the Crue and GnR. Now don't say I am saying these guys are quit to that level but this is hard rock/metal that is solid and hard driving and fist raising. Songs like "Unforgiven" had a southern rock /metal feel which made for a great beefed up ballad type chorus. "Superfly" was a great hard bass line song but came in with a very familiar sounding tempo and style.  The album started taking a modern turn with sampling and keys on "Never" while they still through in some great guitar solos. A few ballads find their way on towards the end which gave for a good amount of diversity.  Overall, this is a very solid album that is not overproduced and lets the artists be that...artists.

Lyrically/Vocally
Lyrically, the band deals with facing adversity, relationships and overall themes of life and often redemption. They do throw in some topics and direction that as a Christian I did not agree with personally.  Songs like "Straight to Hell" gave a message that I couldn't not personally agree with. Vocally, the band does a good job with a great gritty lead with plenty of passion.

Overall, the album took me back to days of more classic and pure metal but mixed with some mixed messages, I probably won't be listening much more.
