The Junior Varsity shrinks from nothing. Bad tours, unbelievably numerous robberies, the vagaries of International customs, dead-end jobs – all are a means to an end for a band that has what it takes to succeed: talent, great songs, and above all, perseverance. Once they made the decision to become a full time band, Monday morning quarterbacking became a thing of the past. They looked forward and worked constantly to realize their vision of creating textured, subtly structured songs spiced with elements of progressive rock.

When I first popped in the cd I already decided I wasn't going to like this cd.  I decided that it was a typical emo influenced pop band that tried to label themselves something they aren't, progressive. That quickly changed and by the time "The Sky" kicked in, which is only the second track, my mind was quickly changing.  The progressive pop nature of the band was showing signs of originality with great momentum. "St. Louis" came in with a fun pop punk influenced track which was a danceable number. At times the band really puts focus on the saxophone and gave a bluesy atmosphere to several tracks. The Junior Varsity has showed true progression and maturity as artists and this album shows that.
The lyrics take a look at life, love and happiness. It is a full circle of poetry which even targets materialism and searching within oneself. There is one offensive word but overall this is very positive focused album.
