“SONSOFDAY is a four-piece alternative rock band formed in 2005 by Roman Bellos, and his three brothers, Vlad, Bogdan, and Scottie.  SODs desire is to express their music as real life, authentic, and human, a true reflection of who they are as people.  Band or fan, life’s joys and difficulties are the same to both.  To quote Fragile People the title track from SODs new CD release, We're fragile people, we hurt sometimes - We don’t know where to go. We all walk through life’s journey searching for our purpose whether a rich man or a beggar.”

The CD starts out with “This Place,” which is a good starter that reminds me a lot of a softer version of a song by Between the Trees and has an added touch of a violin to it.  “Greatest Love” is more pop than rock oriented and even sounds like a worship song and the lyrics also reflect it.  The title track is a short, acoustic song that is well thought out and is quite beautiful, and the following song “Left Without a Goodbye” is where the band really shines which has a slow dance feel to it with a very fitting guitar solo and more violins.  However, after a good start the album takes a rather unexpected turn.  “WHY” brings back the rock side of the band, and also has a worship-like feel to it, but the very next song “Try to Forget” sounds pretty much exactly the same.  The next two songs “Getaway” and “Riches and Wine” which are slower and more indie, both sound too much like each other.  While none of the four songs are bad or anything, they actually are pretty good, its just that having two songs sound pretty much exactly the same and then having two other songs sound the same really takes away from the listening experience.  Despite those songs, the last two help bring the listener back in with “Another Day” and “Oceans Deep” which is an absolutely beautiful song that has a soothing effect with a guest female vocalist which really adds to the song’s depth.

As said before, a lot of the songs have worship-like feels to them and the lyrics really match that feel, pretty much all the songs tell of God’s love, grace and how we all need Him.  “Left Without a Goodbye” deals with the death of someone close, while other songs talk of trying to forget all the times we’ve fallen away from God, to asking why we can’t let go of our lives and just live for Jesus.  My favorite line from the album comes from the title track: “We are different people, fragile and beautiful.  We lose our way sometimes, we’re all in need of a Savior.”

“Greatest Love”

If life is still for sure I’m living all that’s new

The road that lies before me, the wilderness ahead

At times I am not sure of all the things You do

I listen with my silence it wakes me up inside

You are to me, the greatest love of all

You’ll catch me when I fall in Your arms again

You are to me, my greatest strength in all

And You hear me when I call

I’m forever Yours

In the end, Fragile People is a good first attempt from SONSOFDAY.  Most of the songs are fresh and have a unique sound, however there are those four songs mentioned earlier that make it a bit repetitive.  If you’re looking for a mellow rock CD, then I would recommend giving Fragile People a listen but if you’re like me and prefer harder rock then you might want to pass this one over.  I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
