Inhale Exhale recently returned from Lake Side Studios in Knoxville Tennessee where they spent the month of April recording their debut full length album due for an early October 2006 release on Solid State Records. One of our writers caught up with them after an amazing live show in Kentucky.

Josh Phelps: Thanks for doing the interview. Where is Inhale Exhale from and how did you get started?
Brian Pittman: We are from Canton, Ohio and I actually used to play in a band called Relient K and John used to play in a band called Narcissus. We actually kind of started it together with friends from around town and we ended up hanging out a ton and just write music together and then it took around 2 years for Andy and Bobby to come along. And I think God took his time blessing us with them but it worked. And so now we're cool and ready to go.

JP: What were some of your musical influences coming into Inhale Exhale?
BP: I have to go back to the Pantera days. A lot of Pantera, old Metallica. Pretty much anything heavy. I've always liked heavy music. Stretch Armstrong, Killswitch Engage, In Flames, any of those types of bands. I love all kinds of music.

JP: Congrats on your new home at Solid State (Records). What was your initial reaction when you found out they wanted to sign you on?
BP: I was pretty pumped, actually. I wanted to be on Tooth and Nail since I could remember. When I was a little kid, I was listening to MxPx, all those types of bands. They were on Tooth and Nail. Relient K actually put out a demo that never got released and it actually said something about Brandon Ebel (Founder of Tooth & Nail Records) calling us to be on the label. So ironically enough, I did end up getting there just through a different avenue.

JP: One of the three songs you currently have on your MySpace, "Redemption" really grabbed my attention when I listened to it for the first time. What inspired that song?
BP: What inspired that song was kind of dying to your old ways. In the chorus, it says "Life as once knew it is dead." It's kind of putting off of your old self and becoming a new person in God. Our music is very heavy and very passionate. It's a passionate way to say "Thank you." to God for giving us second, third, fourth, fifth opportunities to please him.

JP: Your upcoming debut release of "The Lost. The Sick. The Scared." has kept you in the studio for a while, I can imagine. When can we expect to see it hit the shelves?
BP: I think the street date right now is October 3rd. That should be one you can find.

JP: Why the album title?
BP: The album title kind of sums up everything about us and everything about God and what he does for us as our savior. The Lost and the sick, that's who we're trying to reach. As Christians, we're trying to portray Jesus in a way that's in a loving manner and showing them there's an alternative to the way they're feeling and the way they're living.

JP: When are you looking to hit the road for a tour and if you could tour with anyone, who would it be?
BP: We tentatively have a tour with Twelve Gauge Valentine coming up in a couple weeks and I believe we have the opening spot on Haste The Day, August Burns Red, and Scary Kids Scaring kids, August through September. So those would be the two I know for sure happening. If we could tour with anyone, I'd probably say Pantera if Dimebag wasn't dead. Or probably In Flames, would be really sweet. One of those two I think would put me out of it for the rest of my life. I'd be happy.

JP: Are there any plugs you'd like to throw out?
BP: Check us out at www.myspace.com/inhaleexhale . If you like us, cool. If not, then be nice to us anyways.

JP: Alright man, I appreciate your time.
